FREE PICK-UP IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA. Up for your consideration is a very fine, possibly Imperial, Chinese silk embroidery of an elder in a highly ornate dress.

The piece is embroidered with silk, gold and silver thread on a painted silk background. The piece resembles works from the Ming Dynasty, and the embroidery is meticulously executed. The piece was framed in a shadow box, c. The artwork appears to be much older, c.

The visible silk piece measures 24" tall, and 16" wide. The frame measures 31" tall, 22.5" wide, and about 3 deep. Overall, the embroidered portion of the piece is in excellent condition, free of losses, loose threads, and staining.

However, the lower portion of the silk shows some water damage (discoloration), which also faintly shows on the gold border. The frame is solid and in excellent condition.
