This extremely rare painting comes from the Chan Temple of Putuo stamped with the Imperial Treasure Seal. The ink painting depicts Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara(Guanyin) resting while holding a plant in one hand.
She appears with a Sun halo behind her head, Guaynyin is painted with a young child at the feet, There is also a dove flying towards Guanyin with pearls in its beak. This piece appears to date around the Ming and/or an earlier period. This magnificent piece may have belonged to the Qing Emperor Qianlong.
