Antique Chinese Porcelain'Famille Rose' Imperial Bowl, Qing Dynasty, Daoguang Mark. Within each panel are hand-painted miniature scenes of birds frolicking amongst enchanting flowers and foliage, also outlined in black enamel and intricately painted using the Famille Rose color palette. Xxxxx: The interior of the bowl is elegantly designed in a provincial court pattern, painted in iron-red enamel on a smooth white paste ground. The central roundel bears the Imperial mark, surrounded by a duplicated pattern bordering the rim.The thinly potted bowl tappers down to a tall foot rim, decorated with a transparent wash of European Green (of a turquoise hue)enamel glaze, bordered by two parallel lines in iron-red. Xxxxx: Recessed within the foot rim at the base, is a Tao Kuang (Daoguang) Imperial six-character seal mark inscribed in iron-red enamel. Xxxxx: The particular colors, style, and design in this ware is traditional of early Daoguang pieces.
The motif is brilliantly drawn and painted in vivid overglaze enamel colours, and decorated in various shades of underglaze cobalt blue on a white ground. The bowl was thinly potted and fired at a relatively low temperature and sealed with a protective glaze. The piece is overall in pristine condition, with the exception of minor surface abrasions.
Observation: Typical of hand-crafted pottery, there are a few normal potter blemishes, and kiln production blemishes, including warts, dimples, and pits on the interior and exterior walls. Overall it's an exceptionally attractive piece and a well-preserved specimen of Imperial Chinese Pottery Art.
