DESCRIPTION : Here is a late 18th century Royal Vienna porcelain cup and saucer. Hand painted in an Oriental pattern with the saucer having a bird in flight.

It has be painted in blue, red, mauve, pink, green, yellow and gilt. The pattern consists of various coloured flowers including a rose, blue rocks and bird. The cup has a blue double scale pattern with gilt to the inside top rim. To the outside near the top rim there is a blue band and over painted in gilt (done in the factory) with two blue bands over painted in gilt below the main pattern and a gilt band to the top of the foot..

It has an unusual shaped stepped handle with gilt arrow decoration with four descending gilt lines below to the back of the handle and a gilt leaf on the top of the handle. The saucer hand painted in the same pattern but has a bird included. The cup is marked to the base with a blue painted beehive and with an initial above (possibly a G) with an impressed 92 on one side and and 21 on the other side of the base. The saucer also with a blue painted beehive with the initial above of F. Z and an impressed 92 and 51. SIZE : The cup measures 2 1/2 inches in diameter and 2 5/8 inches in diameter. The saucer measures 5 3/8 inches in diameter and 1 1/4 inches high. Weighs 243 g before packing. CONDITION : The saucer has a small chip to the outside rim as in picture 11. There is a small firing crack to the center and two small fine firing cracks to the inside rim which none of them show on the other side. The main pattern to the center has lost most of the outlining gilt.

The gilt band to the inside top rim is heavily worn, the gilt pattern on the blue double scale pattern is fairly worn. The band with the red arrow tips with a blue band on either side has most of the over painted gilt lines is missing and most of the gilt zig zag pattern running through the red arrow tips is also missing. The cup on the inside rim has a fair amount of gilt ware to the gilt pattern on the blue double scale pattern. To the outside the gilt band has a little ware with the two lower gilt bands with a good amount of ware. The handle has a black substance to one side of the handle.
