58" x 28.5" overall ; 37.5" x 23.5" for the painting only. This is a portrait painting of an imperial mandate Mrs. Gaoming Madam is a title granted to the mother or wife of a high-ranking official by the emperor in the Qing dynasty. The four characters on this lady's phoenix crown in the painting is the title of Gaoming. The painting was painted on the rice paper, and the paper was pasted down a larger board covered in silk fabric. Some parts have been repaired or repainted.
