Copper Decoration Chinese Imperial Robe SHENYI. For your consideration is a very unusual antique Chinese artifact. A decorative sculpture made out of copper in a form of traditional Chinese garment. An embroidered robe or " shenyi", which was widely adopted by various dynasties through the history of China. It was considered to be formal dress in the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD), and it still has a great influence on modern-day one-piece clothing.
The presented here piece is finely elaborated from thick coper sheet with beautiful open work decoration. Weather it was meant for some other purpose, than the purely decorative, we can only guess. Circa late 19th / early 20th century. 9.25" tall x 9.5" x 4.
