Antique 19 c Qing Dynasty Imperial 9 Dragon Robe Embroidered Silk Chinese

AUTHENTIC Antique 19 c Qing Dynasty Imperial Dragon Robe Embroidered Silk Chinese. This is a beautiful and rare 19th century Qing dynasty Imperial 9-Dragon Robe. Overall, this piece looks pretty nice for it's age. Most of the areas of damage to the embroidery are on the backside and shoulder area, so it would display well on a wall. I've provided a whole bunch of additional pictures to give you an accurate sense of the condition. First, the color is totally uniform, I had to photograph this using my flash and the blue silk backing fabric as well as the embroidery threads are reflective. This robe is a bright deep blue.

There is fading to the fabric and the embroidery but it's fairly uniform. The biggest condition issue is a tear along the top of the right sleeve about five inches long. This appears to be due to age and it's along an old fold. Luckily, because of the location of this tear, it's not too noticeable when being displayed. T he top two loops for fastening the top two gilt brass buttons are missing.

I think the very top loop is still partially there and torn, but the next one is missing completely. Also, as you can see in the close-up, the front center seam along the embroidered border trim at the neck has been resewn with some ugly blue thread. This is an area that might require someone with knowledge to look at if you decide to repair it. Finally, there are a number of mostly small areas where the embroidery work has come undone. This is true with the gold threaded dragons as well as the different colored theads.

Most of these areas are along the backside and the shoulder area, but there are a few on the front side too. I should also mention that the remaining button loops along the side are very worn. They do function, but they may need some reinforcement or repair in the future. It's kind of difficult to measure precisely because of the buttons loops at the top, but it measure 24.5 to 25 inches across the chest from armpit to armpit. Also, the sleeve length is 35 inches from the center of the collar to the end of the sleeve cuff. This robe will be carefully packed into a larger box so it doesn't need to be folded terribly flat.
