This painting beautifully displays two red crown cranes perched on a rock at the tip of the water and either a palace or temple overlooking the ocean included in the background. The Ming dynasty Emperor Zhu Youjiao was known and recognized for quelling peasant uprisings during his reigns. The painting was later passed down to a defacto Ming dynasty Imperial member of the Zhu family for his 80th birthday.
It was explained that the material, paint, color and style are all consistent with the period of the artwork. This is a large painting that was done with colored ink on a silk/cloth which is affixed to a board.Please note that there is silk loss as shown in the photos. The artist signature and chop seals appears on the painting. The painting has a beautiful bamboo wood frame which measures approximately 26 X 40 inches and the artwork measures approximately 25 X 39 inches.
