Item Type: Ancient Chinese pottery tomb attendant mingqi dancers from the Tang Dynasty Item Description: A complementing pair of ancient Chinese pottery dancers from the Tang dynasty wearing simple costumes and elaborate hairstyles. Both figures are quite sturdy and stand balanced despite their dynamic positions and give a wonderful impression of motion and even sass. Both figures are quite worn with age and have been broken and mended in several places, including breaks at the neck and outstretched arms, with losses to their hands. Item Size: Each dancer is approx. Marcel Gibrat (Pictured working on a Greek Kylyx in the 1970s), my grandfather, was a Restorer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan and later owned a Madison Avenue Restoration Studio and Art Gallery one block from the Guggenheim Museum. From the 1960s to 1990s. Marcel was undoubtedly a genius and was, as far as I know, the only Restorer for the Met without a PhD. In fact he had a sixth grade education.
